Job Summary

Dodge City Community College is seeking a qualified History Instructor to join our faculty team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of classes, engaging in learning support and instructional practices, and mentoring students to achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of classes, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid delivery modes.
  • Develop and implement assessment measures to achieve course, program, and college learning outcomes.
  • Mentor students to provide a positive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Social Sciences Division and participate in department and division meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of the term class schedule and the college catalog.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in History or a related field, with 18 graduate hours in History.
  • Thorough knowledge of content area and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to convey ideas to others in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Critical analytical and evaluative skills, as well as organizational skills.
  • Computer skills and ability to use technology in the classroom.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience with underprepared/under-resourced students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Content emphases in American and World History.
  • Qualifications to teach additional academic disciplines.
  • Experience teaching at the college level.
  • Commitment to student learning/success.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
  • Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift 20 lbs. and carry short distances.
  • Ability to access classroom, office, and other campus locations.
