Job Summary: The Department of Campus Recreation at Penn State University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Activity Specialist to join our team. As an Activity Specialist, you will provide specialized instruction and training to Trip Leaders, teach skill-based clinics and workshops, and lead outdoor adventure trips and activities. If you have a passion for outdoor leadership and a desire to work with a dynamic team, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Responsibilities:

* Provide training and instruction to Trip Leaders on risk management and outdoor leadership skills
* Teach skill-based clinics and workshops on topics such as backpacking, caving, rock climbing, and wilderness medicine
* Lead outdoor adventure trips and activities, including backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding
* Develop and implement risk management plans to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for participants
* Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement programs and services

Requirements:

* 2 or more years of outdoor leadership experience
* Possession of a nationally recognized certification (e.g. American Mountain Guide Association, American Canoe Association, Wilderness Education Association, Wilderness Medical Institute)
* Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR (or higher) certification
* Valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check
