Engineering Support Specialist for Materials Characterization and Testing

The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for an Engineering Support Specialist position in the Characterization and Testing Department at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL).
We seek a highly motivated individual to join our team in University Park, PA, responsible for assisting with various research activities in the Materials Design and Optimization Division (MDOD).
This role will involve supporting daily aspects of hardware fabrication and testing, collaborating with principal investigators, and performing inspections of test articles. You will also work with engineers to plan, design, and assemble new test equipment, and troubleshoot malfunctioning test equipment.
Preferred skills and experience include managing tasking and support staff, providing preventive maintenance and test planning schedules, and working knowledge of materials and structures, particularly polymer resins and adhesives.
This position is fully on-site at University Park, PA, and requires a U.S. citizen to apply. You will be subject to a government security investigation, and employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Our salary range for this position is $63,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on the selected candidate's education and experience. Additional education and/or experience may be required for higher-level positions.
The salary is competitive with the industry standards for similar positions in the region, taking into account the cost of living in University Park, PA. The salary does not include additional benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off, that are also offered to employees.
