Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Intern to join our team at Dynamic Engineering Consultants, PC. As an Environmental Intern, you will play a critical role in supporting our environmental consulting services and contributing to the success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct environmental site evaluations, testing, and inspection services to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the completion of site investigation activities, including soil borings and/or test pit excavations, and other supporting tasks as deemed necessary by Supervisor.
  • Complete soil, ground water, and air sampling and investigations to identify potential environmental hazards.
  • Pickup and drop-off samples to laboratories for analysis.
  • Earthwork oversight, including excavation of fill material, excavation of contaminated soils, and other related tasks.
  • Conduct post-excavating samples to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Test pit oversight to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
  • Complete project data analysis and report writing to provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for equipment under the direction of a senior engineer.
  • Maintain instruments in calibrated condition, collecting and reporting data to the manager, managing lab supply/inventory, and assisting in preparation of reports/presentations.
  • Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent accidents and injuries.
Requirements
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related engineering field at a College/University.
  • 0-2 years' experience in Environmental engineering, including residential and/or commercial/industrial/office site design and permitting experience.
  • Valid driver's license, valid personal insurance, and a personal vehicle to travel to various sites during a given work day (note: the company will reimburse you for the miles traveled for the company).
  • Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicle.
  • Hands-on experience with metric and English tools.
  • 40 Hours OSHA training preferred.
  • American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Phase I site assessment experience and knowledge of New Jersey state regulations and guidelines (preferred).
  • Field survey experience a plus.
  • Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals.
  • Proficient in the use of available mapping websites for due diligence and site investigation purposes.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Independent and critical thinking abilities.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and with team members, and present themselves professionally and confidently on construction sites and in an office environment.
