Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer to join our team in the Combat & Weapons Control Program Office of PEO UNDERSEA WARFARE SYSTEMS. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the development and production of the AN/BYG-1 Submarine Combat system for all variants of US submarines and the RAN Collins Class submarine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead a combined industry and government team in the development of the AN/BYG-1 subsystems which comprise the AN/BYG-1 Combat System and for the production, integration and testing of those subsystems.
  • Coordinate with the other Participating Acquisition Resource Mangers (PARMs) in the Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) program to ensure all software deliveries and testing are synchronized.
  • Perform key decision-making and policy-developing responsibilities in support of program leadership.
  • Plan, develop, evaluate, and execute short- and long-range technical programs.
  • Establish work assignments to be accomplished by the employees.
  • Set priorities, prepare schedules for work completion, and ensure the timely performance of satisfactory work efforts.
  • Evaluate employee performance and recommend appropriate incentives.
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

  • Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
