Education Assistant

Cranbrook Art Museum is seeking a part-time Education Assistant to facilitate educational programs in art, architecture, and design for diverse audiences. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent presentation, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the education team to develop program materials and school field trip tours.
  • Effectively communicate with diverse audiences, adapting programs to meet the needs of participants.
  • Lead hands-on workshop demonstrations and explain art materials to groups of visitors or school groups.
  • Maintain program storage areas, supplies, and equipment.
  • Meet attendance, punctuality, and performance standards set forth in Cranbrook's employee handbook.
Requirements:
  • A high school degree or GED and college-level Studio Art, Art History, or Art Education courses required; a Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience working in education or with youth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Customer service experience and ability to work with varied constituents.
  • Ability to adapt program materials and presentation style as needed.
  • Requires a Michigan driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
