Job Overview

Position Summary:
  • Manage, oversee, and participate in building inspections to guarantee compliance with established regulations and organizational policies.
Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Direct a team of approximately eight (8) Building Inspectors.
Comprehensive Role Description:
  • Supervise Building Inspectors by evaluating, delegating, and monitoring workflow in partnership with departmental staff, agencies, property owners, and contractors to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Address concerns regarding code infractions and zoning regulations, identify issues, and mediate disputes.
  • Conduct site visits to ongoing inspections, provide training on best inspection practices, and perform final assessments to maintain quality standards.
  • Review team documentation for precision and thoroughness, maintain records, and ensure accurate tracking of inspection activities.
  • Evaluate team performance to assess productivity, efficiency, and training requirements.
  • Execute additional responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Education and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree in Industrial Arts, Business, Construction, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proficiency in standard software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to foster and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and the public.
  • Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal codes, ordinances, and regulations related to electrical, plumbing, and gas installations in residential buildings.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Completion of mandatory preemployment drug screening, with the possibility of random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing during employment.
  • Willingness to travel to various work locations and ability to work in diverse conditions and weather.
  • Ability to endure extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, lifting, and climbing ladders.
