Job Summary

The RTE Lead is a critical role in our production team, responsible for ensuring that employees adhere to standard work procedures to produce high-quality products while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. This position plays an active role in our Lean initiatives and requires a self-motivated, quality-conscious professional who can lead by example.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership
    • Lead the production team by promoting a positive work environment and creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
    • Assist in creating and evaluating an effective orientation process for new employees.
    • Manage the orientation and on-the-job training of all employees in specific work areas, including standard work, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
    • Complete and submit employee performance evaluations and merit increases for employees on the team.
    • Set a good example by maintaining a good attendance record and promoting the importance of following the Production Attendance Points Policy.
    • Ensure all employees are treated fairly and with respect in a safe, clean, and positive work environment.
  • Food Safety and Quality
    • Responsible for food safety and quality, following and enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all company policies and procedures.
    • Promote food safety with all employees and immediately report any food safety concerns to the production manager.
  • Safety and Health
    • Perform job responsibilities in a safe manner, promoting safety with all employees and immediately reporting any safety concerns to the production manager.
    • Successfully complete the mandatory E.A. Sween Company Quarterly Safety Training sessions for complying with both OSHA regulations and company policy.
    • Achieve zero safety incidents for team members.
  • Production
    • Validate that all team members are following standard work 100% of the time, coaching team members to higher performance levels.
    • Work with the Line Controllers to ensure accurate completion of downtime reports and raw material production reports for each work order using Redzone software.
    • Ensure proper employee rotation schedule for each work order.
    • Coach, discipline, and document work performance and/or policy violations with guidance from the Production Supervisor.
    • Communicate daily with the Production Supervisor and production manager regarding any issues or concerns.
    • Fills in on the production line on an as-needed basis.
    • Work with the production management team on updating position descriptions and standard work.
    • Properly cross-trained in all positions or areas.
    • Meet or exceed 100% fill rates.
  • Cost (Continuous Improvement)
    • Contribute to Lean activities, suggesting additional types of employee training as it relates to process improvement/lean.
    • Work together with production employees, quality assistant, production supervisor, and maintenance techs to assemble the lowest cost, highest quality product possible.
    • Achieve 25% waste reductions.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years previous food experience
  • Previous experience leading or supervising employees
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English
  • Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional overtime
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous machine operator experience
  • Previous experience conducting performance reviews
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be willing to spend 95% of time on the production floor
  • Must be able to be on feet majority of the work day
  • Must be able to work in cool conditions, 32 to 45 degrees F.
  • Must be able to keep up with manufacturing speeds on production lines
  • Must be able to bend, twist, turn, push, and pull
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to be cross-trained on positions in all areas of production
