Clinical Laboratory Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our molecular clinical laboratory team at LabCorp's Women's Health and Genetics division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that complex molecular diagnostic assays and systems are performed under appropriate compliance and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement assay improvements to enhance testing accuracy and efficiency
- Utilize advanced instrumentation, including Hamilton liquid handlers, Massarray Spectrometer, and Illumina next-generation sequencers, to perform quality control, troubleshooting, and calibrations
- Follow prescribed Standard Operating Procedures for sample processing and accurately enter results of testing
- Identify and respond to critical values or unusual results, maintaining proper documentation and ensuring accurate test result reporting
- Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, evaluating instrument performance check results and performing linearity, accuracy, and precision checks as required
- Recognize problems and initiate troubleshooting steps to evaluate testing failures and other issues
- Monitor and maintain a consistent supply of reagents and consumables, preparing, testing, and evaluating new reagents or controls
- Provide technical guidance to laboratory assistants and associates, assisting with training new employees and reviewing and editing technical instructions and standard operating procedures
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing across all shifts
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, a commitment to high standards, innovation, and accountability
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a similar scientific discipline required
- CA CLS license required (Generalist or CGMBS); Specialist in Molecular (CGMBS) license highly desired
- Previous assay validation experience required; previous molecular diagnostics experience, including DNA isolation, PCR, RT-PCR, Real-Time PCR, capillary electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing highly desired
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills and experience with a laboratory information system
- Experience with accreditation inspections and writing and editing laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) highly desirable
- High level of attention to detail, strong communication, organizational skills, and ability to work well in a group
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
