Position Overview
The Nutritional Chef is responsible for executing culinary tasks to uphold exceptional standards of food quality and hygiene.
Key Qualifications:

- Understanding of therapeutic and modified diet principles for patient meal preparation.
- Able to interpret standardized recipes for large-scale food production.
- Knowledge of sanitation protocols and commitment to daily application.
- Capacity to perform repetitive tasks consistently.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Ability to read and comprehend chemical labels and safety data sheets.
- Good mental and physical health.
- Leadership skills to guide and motivate dietary team members.
- Collaborative approach to working with all dietary and departmental partners.
- Reliability in fulfilling job responsibilities and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Possession of or willingness to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate or complete a Sanitation Course as per state regulations.
- Able to work under supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Exhibit self-starting qualities and make independent decisions when required.
- Manage the dietary department in the absence of the dietary manager and act as a supervisor when necessary.
- Understand and comply with all relevant dietary regulations (local, state, and federal).
- Maintain a safe, secure, and sanitary dietary environment, reporting issues to the dietary manager.
- Utilize good judgment in conserving supplies and minimizing food waste.
- Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, ensuring proper handling techniques.
- Review menus and prepare meals according to dietary requirements.
- Test and taste foods for quality and adjust as necessary.
- Ensure timely preparation and service of meals/snacks.
- Portion food accurately during tray service and check for dietary accuracy.
- Record any necessary menu substitutions.
- Show initiative in food presentation and service.
- Participate in training and in-service programs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
- Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families.
- Process new diet orders and keep dietary records updated.
- Adhere to the department's dress code.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
