We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Child Psychiatric Unit at Spring Harbor Hospital. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide patient care utilizing the nursing process in an inpatient setting. Our multidisciplinary patient care team specializes in the treatment of diagnoses most commonly found in children and adolescents, including depression, disruptive behavior disorders, emerging psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance use disorders.
Our unit programming includes comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, individual and family therapy, occupational therapy, and on-site academic tutoring. We offer a 12-bed unit designed for the care of children, generally ages from 6-12 years old and as young as 4, who require acute mental health treatment. Our facility also includes access to a gym and outside playground and courtyard areas.
As a Registered Nurse on our team, you will work collaboratively with medical providers, occupational therapists, social work clinicians, and nursing staff to develop individualized treatment plans for youth. Treatment may include engagement in dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy skills groups, psychoeducation groups, individual and milieu therapies, occupational therapy, and individual psychotherapy. Medication providers may also recommend psychotropic medication as part of the treatment.
Requirements
We are seeking a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a graduate of an accredited Nursing program. You must be licensed as a registered professional nurse by the Maine State Board of Nursing. We prefer candidates with 1+ year of psychiatric nursing experience and knowledge of counseling theory, physical and psychological effects of mental illness and substance abuse. Knowledge of bio-psychosocial assessments is required.
