The Penn State University Libraries are seeking a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as the Head of Library Learning Services. This key position plays a critical role in advancing the Libraries' teaching, learning, and information literacy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Library Learning Services department, aligning with the Libraries' overall mission and goals.
  • Directly supervise and manage a team of faculty members and staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the success of the department.
  • Collaborate with Libraries colleagues and external partners to develop and integrate a unified information literacy curriculum and program at Penn State.
  • Participate in the Libraries' Instruction Leadership Team, contributing to the development and implementation of a strategic vision for the Libraries' teaching and learning program.
  • Engage with other University departments and programs to integrate and align information literacy initiatives with broader University programming and student success priorities.
Qualifications:
  • A Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent).
  • Substantial relevant experience with information literacy and instruction in an academic, special, or research library setting.
  • Commitment to and experience with shared governance and faculty mentorship.
  • Commitment to and experience with initiatives that advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated supervisory and empathetic leadership skills that build consensus and support a strong, self-sufficient team.
  • Evidence of substantive leadership initiatives that advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a strategic vision and lead collaborative efforts across library units and with external partners in a broader setting.
