Position Summary
The Inventory Control Supervisor is tasked with managing the processes, protocols, and precise reporting of inventory from the point of receipt through to the warehouse. This role involves close collaboration with the Purchasing, Planning, Manufacturing, Production Inventory, and Finance teams to devise and execute an inventory strategy aimed at enhancing accuracy and ensuring timely product delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of all personnel within the department.
- Oversee departmental operations, including materials, team management, scheduling, and budget adherence.
- Maintain and verify the accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
- Supervise team leaders, ensuring effective management practices; support in recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw, manufactured, and purchased materials to maximize production efficiency while minimizing holding costs.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing team to establish a robust inventory tracking system that monitors stock levels and triggers reorder points.
- Analyze historical data and demand trends to optimize inventory levels and reduce carrying costs.
- Coordinate with production planning to align inventory levels with production schedules.
- Implement inventory control strategies such as FIFO (First In, First Out) to minimize waste.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure inventory accuracy and address discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Work with the Quality team to develop and enforce quality control procedures for incoming materials.
- Facilitate regular meetings with cross-functional teams to share insights and tackle supply chain challenges.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to enhance transportation and delivery schedules.
- Lead initiatives to identify and implement process improvements in materials management.
- Utilize data analytics to pinpoint inefficiencies and areas for optimization.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement through training and development programs within the materials management teams.
- Conduct performance reviews of the materials management process and implement necessary adjustments.
- Identify slow-moving raw materials and manage the process of reducing at-risk inventories.
- Engage with Finance to ensure clear understanding of financial risks associated with expired or obsolete materials.
- Conduct departmental meetings to discuss performance and strategies.
- Identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs and charges.
- Perform write-offs of damaged or obsolete inventory to maintain accurate inventory valuation.
- Establish procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.
- Execute other related duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all requirements of Daifuku's policies and procedures, ensuring sustainable processes that drive continuous improvement and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Inventory or Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience in Inventory or Material Management.
- Proficient knowledge of MRP/ERP systems with a specific focus on inventory controls and transactions; experience with SAP EWM is preferred.
