Position Overview: Respiratory Therapist PRN Nights
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering respiratory care to patients as prescribed by physicians. This role involves managing more intricate cases and providing training and mentorship to staff. Responsibilities include performing various types of Respiratory Care such as diagnostic assessments, treadmill tests, complete pulmonary function tests (PFTs), maintaining ABG machines, hemodynamic monitoring, specialized procedures, and electroencephalograms (ENGs). The therapist will also conduct assessments and treatments for patients across all age groups, including newborns, children, adults, and the elderly. The ability to mentor students and new staff is essential.
Essential Skills: A solid understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control practices, including isolation protocols, is crucial. Familiarity with volume ventilators and patient hemodynamics is required. Excellent customer service and computer skills are preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities: May oversee shift therapists.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Completion of a formal two-year respiratory therapy education program that meets certification (CRT) and registration (RRT) requirements.
Minimum Experience: A minimum of two years in the field of Respiratory Therapy.
Preferred Experience: Experience in acute care and ICU settings, including hemodynamic monitoring, PFTs, and cardiology is preferred. The ability to mentor and train staff, students, and new hires is essential. A proactive leadership approach to meet departmental needs is encouraged.
Required Certifications/Licensure: Must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Arizona and current CPR certification. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and NRP are required within the first year of employment.
