At Nationstar Mortgage LLC d/b/a Mr. Cooper, we're dedicated to making homeownership possible. As a Corporate Tax Manager, you'll play a vital role in supporting our tax team in all areas of income tax operations, including tax provision, compliance, audits, and technical research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end GAAP financial statement preparation and maintain effective control procedures and documentation.
  • Work with external audit firms to ensure sufficiency of tax information in financial statements.
  • Support the tax team in monthly tax forecast calculations and modeling.
  • Manage projects and tasks related to federal and state tax return compliance, including audit controversy and notices.
  • Assist with tax planning projects, including various federal and state tax credits.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and develop process efficiencies using Alteryx, MS Apps, and other available software tools.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure timely awareness of transactions and events affecting filing obligations and tax positions.
  • Assist with Section 382 analysis and monitoring cumulative ownership shift.
  • Support tax planning strategies and M&A activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of tax law changes and regulations and assist with developing the company's tax positions.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience or equivalent to an Experienced Tax Manager.
  • 5+ years of experience with ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes.
  • Experience with federal and multi-state and local tax accounting for corporations and partnerships.
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated project management skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, including interpersonal skills, social awareness, and team player.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong experience and skills with MS Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters in Taxation.
  • CPA Certification.
  • Experience with Onesource Tax Provision, Alteryx, MS Teams Applications.
  • Financial services/mortgage banking experience.
  • Hands-on compliance experience in a big 4 accounting firm, corporate tax department, or equivalent.
