Dow is excited to present a position for a Mechanical Maintenance Specialist (Journeyman Mechanic).

Role Overview

The Journeyman Mechanic will provide essential support across the site as required. This role entails assisting in the upkeep of all process and auxiliary equipment, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Chlorosilane Process Equipment
  • Siloxane Process Equipment
  • Utilities Process Equipment
  • Product Delivery Process Equipment
  • Associated process piping, relief valves, and pumps (centrifugal, diaphragm, positive displacement)
  • Support for Capital Projects
Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will undertake various roles and responsibilities, including:

MECHANICAL EXPERTISE: Comprehensive understanding of mechanical maintenance methods and procedures, proficient use of hand and portable power tools, shop equipment, relevant terminology, and resource locations.

PROCESS EQUIPMENT RELIABILITY: Perform preventative maintenance tasks requiring specialized skills.

PROCESS EQUIPMENT REPAIR: Respond to equipment malfunctions and restore normal operations efficiently by:
  • Troubleshooting equipment failures to identify the root cause
  • Assessing potential solutions and consulting with relevant personnel
  • Executing necessary repairs
  • Securing, fabricating, and installing replacement parts as needed
PROCESS EQUIPMENT ENHANCEMENT: Provide extensive mechanical technical support and expertise to operational groups.

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, AND SAFETY (EHS) COMPLIANCE: Adhere to all applicable Federal, State, Local, and Corporate EHS regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness as a key responsibility
  • Perform all tasks safely and responsibly by following site safety protocols
  • Select, maintain, and utilize all safety equipment and personal protective gear
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Carry out necessary administrative tasks.
  • Develop strategies and estimate time and materials for maintenance and capital projects
  • Communicate work status and corrective actions to relevant parties
  • Document technical findings, time spent, materials used, and corrective actions in the appropriate systems
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions as required
  • Engage in Risk Assessments and Root Cause Investigations as necessary
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Mechanical or Industrial Maintenance role (Journeyman)
  • Experience with pumps, valves, compressors, piping, pipefitting, blueprint reading, and rigging
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Availability for overtime and emergency call-ins as needed
  • Eligibility to work legally in the United States without visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with welding
  • Experience operating a crane
  • Background in a Chemical Manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with SAP and Microsoft applications
Physical Requirements:

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
