Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Veterinary Technician to join our team at the University of Missouri-Columbia's Veterinary Health Center. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the advancement of veterinary medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough examinations of animals, including taking vital signs, drawing blood, collecting specimens, and gathering medical histories.
  • Provide emergency first aid, monitor critical patients, and participate in procedures and treatments.
  • Prepare equipment for surgical procedures, clean and organize treatment and examination rooms, and educate clients on treatment plans and animal care.
  • Participate in teaching veterinary students and assist with research activities.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology Program.
  • Licensure as a Registered Veterinary Technician in the State of Missouri or eligibility to obtain licensure within 6 months.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a general veterinary practice or 3 years in a progressive specialty or Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Continuous learning and professional growth mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keen understanding of animal behavior and strong clinical skills.
