Position Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Department: Maintenance

Position Overview: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for overseeing and addressing the daily maintenance requirements of all machinery and equipment. Key responsibilities include the upkeep and repair of manufacturing machinery such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production equipment, utilizing hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.

The Maintenance Mechanic will monitor mechanical systems in operation, listening for unusual sounds to identify issues. This role involves disassembling machinery to access and replace defective components using hoists, cranes, scissor lifts, forklifts, and various tools. The technician will repair or substitute faulty parts, employing hand and power tools as necessary. Additionally, the role may require setting up and operating metalworking tools like lathes and drill presses to fabricate and repair components. The technician may also initiate purchase orders for necessary parts and equipment.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting, with a focus on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and minor electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with electric motors, generators, pumps, pressure systems, and water systems typically found in fastener manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and hazards associated with building maintenance trades.
  • Proficient in the proper use of chemicals and the ability to perform routine mechanical or electrical maintenance while maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Capability to interpret sketches, drawings, and blueprints, along with maintaining accurate records of materials, equipment, and repairs.

Reporting Structure: The Maintenance Mechanic will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Work Environment: This is a first-shift position requiring various physical activities, including standing, bending, squatting, and walking both indoors and outdoors. Employees may encounter warm and cold weather conditions depending on the season. The role necessitates the ability to bend, reach, kneel, and stand for extended periods, as well as the capacity to climb ladders and lift heavy objects.

Position Type: Full-time, 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, with overtime as needed based on production demands. Regular attendance is a critical function of this role.
