Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Washington University in St. Louis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in clinical laboratory testing and a passion for delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Laboratory Testing: Conduct routine assays and special tests using various clinical laboratory instruments and laboratory-developed tests.
  • Maintain Instrumentation: Perform instrument maintenance and minor troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with senior medical technologists and supervisors to resolve problem situations and participate in problem-solving.
  • Assist with Validation: Assist with the validation of new assays and compile data for supervisory review.
  • Comply with Regulations: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and client requirements for testing and documentation.
  • Participate in Continuing Education: Participate in relevant continuing education classes and seminars to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies.
Working Conditions
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Wear personal protective equipment and lab equipment as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a physical or life science and clinical laboratory experience.
  • Professional Certifications: ASCP registry or equivalent.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with staff, management, and directors.
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrate the ability to perform tasks in an organized and systematic manner with great attention to detail.
  • Adaptability: Demonstrate the ability to multitask and adapt quickly to new instruments and protocols.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Associate degree in Medical Lab Technician or a related scientific degree.
