Position Overview:

The Sleep Study Technician II is responsible for conducting diagnostic sleep evaluations to assist in the assessment and management of patients experiencing sleep-related disorders.



Minimum Qualifications:
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) with a minimum of 18 months of experience in a Sleep Lab;
  • OR Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) with 2-5 years of experience in a sleep lab;
  • OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 1-2 years of experience in respiratory therapy;
  • OR Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with 1-2 years of experience in respiratory therapy.

Additionally, candidates must obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire and achieve registry as a Polysomnography Tech within 18 months of employment.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in an Allied Health Field or completion of a Respiratory Therapy program;
  • West Virginia Respiratory License;
  • Experience in a sleep lab for RTs with 1-2 years;
  • ACLS Certification within 90 days of hire.


Core Responsibilities:

The following duties outline the general nature of the work performed in this position:

  • Ensure the completion of all patient testing procedures at the Sleep Center, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Document accurately in Tech Notes, acquisition equipment, and patient records.
  • Conduct sleep studies following established guidelines in both the Sleep Evaluation Center and critical care areas.
  • Prepare initial data for physician review in the formulation of sleep reports.
  • Utilize the AIDET Communications Process to inform patients and families about the significance of the studies performed.
  • Observe, record, and report patient concerns and reactions promptly.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles and assess patient data accordingly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of equipment and work areas.
  • Participate in continuing education and departmental training.
  • Assist in training new staff and medical personnel.
  • Contribute to departmental goals by collaborating with team members.
  • Score sleep studies in accordance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
  • Capability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work during unscheduled hours.


Working Environment:

This role involves performing sleep studies in accordance with established policies and procedures in various clinical settings.

  • Ability to interact effectively with physicians, staff, and patients.
