Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at Whitsons Culinary Group. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to patients in a safe and healthful manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve daily hot meals, ensuring compliance with portioning, plate presentation, and quality guidelines.
  • Determine the time and sequence of cooking operations to meet meal serving deadlines, utilizing batch cooking techniques to ensure efficient service.
  • Prepare and submit food and paper orders according to menu and production logs, maintaining accurate records and logs.
  • Perform temperature checks during meal periods to ensure food is served hot, logging results in temperature logs.
  • Follow assigned break schedules and sanitation requirements, adhering to state, federal, and local safe food handling guidelines.
  • Assist in implementing and following sanitation cleaning schedules for all kitchen areas and equipment.
  • Prepare and update production records and temperature logs, as well as assist with production requirements as assigned.
  • Comply with all requirements of mandated food handling certification.
  • Attend weekly kitchen meetings held by the head chef or manager.
  • Follow all Whitsons policies and procedures at all times.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all portioning, plate presentation, and quality guidelines.
  • Maintain a sanitary and attractive work area at all times, cleaning as you go.
  • Stock enough supplies at your station to last the entire day.
  • Set up attractive display plates for each menu daily.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Physical Demands of the Job

The physical demands of this job include frequent sitting, walking, talking, and hearing. The team member must be able to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Standing on feet for the majority of the workday is required, with occasional lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work is performed primarily in the kitchen and on the serving line, with standing required for most of the workday. The team member will be exposed to extreme temperatures due to cooking and refrigeration equipment, and will work in a moderate to loud noise environment.
