Role Responsibilities

The Dispensing Nurse I - LPN will collaborate with a mobile healthcare team to deliver vital services in rural areas. Key responsibilities include:

  • Administering medications as prescribed by healthcare providers while ensuring meticulous documentation of all medications received and dispensed.
  • Safeguarding all medication supplies and maintaining compliance with regulations set forth by the DEA, FDA, and Board of Pharmacy.
  • Conducting necessary tests, including breath alcohol testing and urine collection, while ensuring accurate completion of related documentation.
  • Performing nursing assessments, including measuring vital signs and providing patient education.
  • Monitoring patient conditions and promptly reporting any changes to the healthcare team.
  • Updating electronic health records with prescriptions and medication details.
  • Documenting patient interactions and communications in a timely manner, adhering to established guidelines.
  • Explaining medication usage and effects to patients, ensuring they understand their treatment.
  • Maintaining accurate statistical records and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care.
  • Following established protocols and adhering to all organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program and possession of a current LPN license in Washington State.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a clinical environment.
  • Prior experience in substance abuse treatment or primary care is preferred.
  • Knowledge of current medical practices related to primary care, mental health, and addiction medicine.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on empathy and ethical boundaries.
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment, understanding the social and cultural contexts of patients.
  • Flexibility to accommodate varying work hours, including potential evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records and strong computer skills.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and meet all vaccination requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPR/First Aid Certification (training provided if not currently certified).
  • Familiarity with Epic and/or Methasoft EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
