Position Summary
The role involves providing essential pre-hospital medical assistance to individuals experiencing health emergencies. The candidate will demonstrate comprehensive skills and competencies required for EMT functions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver advanced and basic emergency medical care to patients in need.
2. Ensure that all medical equipment is maintained and ready for immediate use.
3. Participate in the onboarding and training of new team members.
4. Assist in the training of students during their practical rotations within the emergency medical services.
5. Collaborate with Emergency Room personnel to support daily operations and patient care.
6. Suggest improvements to supervisory staff to enhance the efficiency of the emergency medical services.
7. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of crew facilities.
8. Successfully complete a minimum of twenty Advanced Life Support calls under the guidance of an approved Paramedic Mentor.
9. Conduct ALS patient assessments and documentation under direct supervision.
10. Complete all necessary ALS clinical observation documentation.
11. Review ALS progress reports regularly with quality assurance and mentoring staff.
12. Prepare continuously for advancement to Paramedic Level B.
13. Meet all contractual obligations related to the EMS role.
14. Perform at least two intubation procedures.
15. Accompany an approved preceptor on a minimum of twenty ALS calls.
16. Adhere to all medical control and compliance requirements set by the sponsoring hospital.
17. Fulfill all responsibilities associated with the position and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum of two years in a relevant field.
Licenses: Must hold a valid CT Paramedic license, along with certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). A valid driver's license is also required.
Preferred: An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline. Additional certifications such as AHA BLS, PHTLS/ITLS, TECC/TCCC, and NRP are advantageous.
Working Conditions:
Manual Skills: Requires significant manual dexterity and coordination.
Occupational Risks: The position involves considerable occupational hazards.
Physical Demands: The role necessitates heavy physical effort, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Environmental Factors: Exposure to various environmental conditions, including dirt, odors, and noise.
