Perfusion Specialist

Responsibilities- Operate extracorporeal circulation equipment during cardiopulmonary bypass operations, ensuring safe management of physiologic functions.
- Select and manage appropriate equipment and techniques for cardiopulmonary bypass and mechanical circulatory assist devices.
- Support implantation and prolonged management of mechanical circulatory assist devices, including right ventricular assist devices, left ventricular assist devices, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
- Work with cardiothoracic surgery service to monitor patient outcomes and participate in research and education projects.
- Assist cardiothoracic surgeons with harvesting and transporting organs for transplantation and administer cardioplegia.
- Completion of a Perfusion Technology Program accredited by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).
- Certification as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) or eligibility for board certification.
- Basic Life Support certification and maintenance of certification and continued educational credits.
- Ability to work flexible, rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and be on-call.
- Ability to stand, sit, and work for long periods without a break, and lift heavy consoles.
