The Veterinary Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of care for pets at Banfield Pet Hospital. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing quality patient care, including preparing procedures and maintaining medical charts.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, veterinarians, and other team members to ensure seamless patient flow.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, educating clients on pet health, wellness plans, and hospital services.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment area, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Assist with surgery and other medical procedures as needed.
  • Mentor and support other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
Requirements
  • Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of related experience, with customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods, be confident around pets, and perform tasks that require standing, walking, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions

The Veterinary Assistant will work in a fast-paced hospital environment, exposed to various pets, and may be required to work weekends and evenings. The position requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
