Cost Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team at Creative Financial Staffing. As a key member of our accounting team, you will play a crucial role in driving business growth and success by managing and maintaining our cost accounting system.

About the Role
  • Manage and maintain the cost accounting system, incorporating an understanding of manufacturing operations and generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Review and post manufacturing accounting entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor cost and variance trends, researching significant variations and recommending appropriate responses.
  • Prepare daily operating performance analysis, identifying significant issues in a timely fashion.
  • Review new BOMs and Routers for accuracy, ensuring cost freeze compliance.
  • Perform monthly inventory valuation and reconciliation of cost ledgers.
  • Evaluate and approve cost review requests, including operating impact analysis.
  • Process CAPEX requests, tracking spend and capitalizing assets as required.
  • Perform data analysis to support job duties and management requests.
  • Prepare and monitor operating forecasts based on budgets, reviewing significant variations and analyzing operating impact.
  • Establish labor and overhead rates in line with operating budgets.
  • Perform annual cost roll and inventory revaluation, working with purchasing and operations management to enhance accuracy.
  • Assist other employees with information and analysis as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting a manufacturing business.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • 4+ years of Cost accounting experience.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • 4+ years of experience using ERP systems, with EPICOR experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Salary: $85,000 - $95,000
