Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Intern to join our team at the City of Chesapeake. As a Clinical Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with residents in a detention setting, providing clinical assessments, therapy sessions, and case management services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical assessments of residents to identify mental health needs and develop treatment plans
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions with residents
  • Collaborate with other professionals to identify clinical needs and provide support
  • Consult with the facility's Licensed Clinician on diagnostic criteria and clinical treatment
  • Complete mental health and suicide screenings with direct support
  • Practice case management skills, including referrals and documentation
Requirements
  • Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • The length of the internship may vary depending on the student's curriculum
  • Students will be responsible for providing their own transportation and arriving at the work site on time
  • Must demonstrate honesty, punctuality, and a cooperative attitude
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a strong academic record and relevant coursework in mental health or a related field.
