Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented School Crossing Guard to join our team at the City of Miami Beach, FL. As a School Crossing Guard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of school children and the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct traffic at designated school crossings to ensure safe passage of children
  • Place and remove school sentinel signs in the roadway as needed
  • Control vehicular traffic to allow children to cross safely
  • Monitor and supervise children to ensure they conform to traffic regulations
  • Take appropriate action with children who fail to cooperate and report incidents to the supervisor
Requirements
  • 6 months of full-time paid public contact experience
  • Ability to react quickly to moving vehicles and situations involving the safety of school children
  • Use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with others
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups
  • Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity
Working Conditions
  • Significant standing and walking required
  • No significant moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, or sitting
