Job Summary

Phoenix Metals is seeking a skilled Material Handler to join our team in Norcross, GA. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for moving inventory, filling customer orders, and maintaining the upkeep of our warehouse.


Key Responsibilities
  • Move inventory or equipment, fill customer orders, and pull material from racks
  • Unload incoming material, load trucks and/or customer vehicles, and help maintain the warehouse
  • Receive, place/return items into stock inventory locations
  • Pull and assemble orders based on reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation
  • Tag material for proper identification and complete all required documentation
  • Moves material from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas using forklift, side loader, or crane
  • Operate yard truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers
  • Maintain work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition
  • Sort and place material on rack, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence
  • Spot checks on inventory, complete daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed
  • Report any irregularities to supervisor for direction
  • Restock material
  • May occasionally drive motor vehicle (non-DOT truck) for local deliveries and parts pick-ups

Requirements
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required
  • High School diploma/GED preferred
  • Must possess a Valid Drivers License
  • Ability to meet current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by Federal regulations and/or company policy required
  • Warehousing and material handling experience preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment
  • Clear oral and written communication skills, particularly legible handwriting required
  • Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination required
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment required
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers required

Work Environment

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Warehouse setting; minimal temperature environment.

  • Monday-Friday 1st shift 6:00 am-2:30 pm
