Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with leadership on sustainability initiatives and strategic planning to advance United's environmental goals.
- Define and lead the environmental disclosure strategy in alignment with ESG reporting requirements, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulations.
- Monitor and report on ESG performance relative to sustainability commitments, focusing on accurate communication and regulatory adherence.
- Stay informed on the ESG landscape to enhance United's environmental communication and practices.
- Work with cross-functional leaders to ensure transparency in Scope 3 emissions and integrate sustainability into our supply chain, aligning with our decarbonization strategy.
- Represent United's sustainability initiatives through various engagements.
- Implement programs that promote United's leadership in decarbonizing air travel through advocacy, data management, and strategic partnerships.
- Manage disclosure obligations related to ESG compliance at local, national, and international levels.
- Oversee climate-related ESG responsibilities, including tracking and reporting greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental metrics.
- Foster a culture of integrity in disclosures by adopting best practices in data management and communication.
- Utilize expertise in ESG disclosure frameworks and standards, such as TCFD, CDP, and SASB.
- Develop and execute United's strategy for engaging with ESG rating agencies, investors, and key stakeholders.
- Analyze progress against sustainability goals and represent United in external collaborations.
- Stay updated on market trends and sustainability commitments to inform strategic decisions.
- Support internal and external communications as necessary.
- Commit to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Model integrity and accountability within the team.
- Ensure transparent communication with staff, leadership, and stakeholders.
- Set individual goals aligned with United's climate ambition of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
- Leverage technical expertise to guide strategic implementation of sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences/Policy or a related field
- At least 7 years of experience in Environmental or ESG roles, including knowledge of current and emerging regulations and disclosure frameworks
- Familiarity with GHG accounting methodologies
- Strong business acumen to assess strategies and opportunities relevant to our operations
- Experience in addressing complex business challenges with practical solutions
- Proven stakeholder engagement skills with various groups, including communities and government officials
- General understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and judgment to lead teams toward organizational objectives
- Excellent analytical skills, innovative thinking, and a long-term vision
- Ability to anticipate emerging issues and apply a risk/benefit analysis
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging senior management and external audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Successful completion of an interview is required to meet job qualifications
- Reliable and punctual attendance is essential for this role
