About the Role

The Hotel Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all hotel equipment and systems, including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, and HVAC refrigeration. This role requires a hands-on approach, with the ability to dive into day-to-day operations, service, and repairs of hotel equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uphold and role model the company's principles of People, Place, and to ensure the experiences of translocal hospitality, intuitive service, and collaboration
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working environment
  • Responsibilities include maintaining all equipment, systems, and building components, including mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile, and other equipment
  • Handle routine maintenance, repairs, and cleanliness in guest rooms, public spaces, event space, outlets, back of house spaces, and grounds
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the hotel's safety systems and takes corrective action on any maintenance or operating problems that affect the security or operating condition of the hotel
  • Participate in the room preventative maintenance program
  • Use skills and intuition to detect equipment malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair
  • Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment and furnishings as needed
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards; Participate in all scheduled training classes and meetings
  • Transport heavy boxes and packages within the hotel for maintenance and repairs
  • Assist in delivery and setup of all new equipment, such as televisions, mattresses, tables, chairs, etc.
  • Communicate with the Director on projects as assigned
  • Respond to all guest requests in a timely and personable manner
Requirements
  • Black Seal License - Required
  • Preferred Experience with Drywall and Framing
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance; previous experience as a hotel engineer preferred or comparable experience at an establishment such as an apartment complex or office building
  • Basic knowledge of refrigeration systems, electricity, HVAC, and plumbing, certifications are a plus
  • Proficiency in the English language in reading, writing, and verbal communication
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, bend, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work by yourself, lead yourself, make it count
  • Ability to work varied shifts, that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
