Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Associate to join our team at Harper College. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our college facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain college facilities, including classrooms, offices, common areas, and restrooms
  • Perform custodial duties, including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, dust mopping, and wet mopping floors, furniture dusting, and cleaning and replenishing restroom supplies
  • Empty and clean waste receptacles, clean whiteboards, windows, and walls, and maintain custodial supplies and equipment
  • Operate floor machines, common hand tools, and extension ladders as needed
Working Conditions

As a Facilities Maintenance Associate, you will be exposed to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. You may be required to wear respiratory protection, eye protection, and/or hearing protection and other personal protective equipment on a daily basis.

Physical Demands

The ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate strength using equipment/machinery, pull, grasp, and climb is essential for this role. You will also be required to lift up to 75 lbs. occasionally.

Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Six months of janitorial/housekeeping/custodial experience is required
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License
