Position Overview

Job Title: Education Advisor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counsel to active-duty personnel regarding all educational programs available through voluntary off-duty initiatives.
  • Offer insights and support to Active-Duty Air Force members on CCAF degree pathways by assessing military training and course completions, reviewing academic transcripts, and applying earned credits.
  • Retrieve and analyze reports from the CCAF Online platform to identify potential graduates and monitor their academic progress.
  • Educate prospective CCAF graduates on utilizing AFVEC features, including updating personal and supervisor information.
  • Guide service members in the use of the Civilian Course Conversion Table (CivCCT), Military Course Conversion Table (Mil CCT), and the 2017 Credit by Exam Matrix by Degree Program, as well as managing their transcripts.
  • Submit CCAF Action Requests to Program Managers and maintain communication with service members regarding responses and actions taken.
  • Document all interactions with service members in AFAEMS and provide weekly statistical reports to the Education Services Officer (ESO).
  • Manage retrieval of CCAF graduation confirmation communications from the organizational email account.
  • Assist all Active Duty Air Force members with information on tuition assistance, Veteran Administration education benefits, federal financial aid programs, local scholarships, and Air Force Aid Society resources.
  • Ensure that courses taken for CCAF using military tuition assistance are applicable to degree requirements and complete counseling notes in AFAEMS.
  • Support incoming CCAF Instructors with their enrollment and requirements for the Instructor of Technology & Military Science degree.
  • Refer students to the appropriate academic institution representatives for course registration and enrollment that align with their educational objectives.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the DANTES test program and advise students on relevant DANTES tests for their study programs.
  • Conduct informational briefings for Active Duty Air Force personnel and other requestors as necessary.
  • Prepare all required correspondence and documentation, maintaining accurate records and logs to support job functions.
  • Advise the designated graduation committee on semi-annual CCAF graduation ceremonies.
  • Keep a detailed record of advisement or counseling sessions conducted.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Successful completion of a background check is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in adult or military education academic advising is essential.
  • Preferred knowledge of Air Force terminology, office protocols, and educational programs.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access is advantageous.
