Essential Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology or a related discipline, accompanied by practical laboratory experience. Proficiency in culturing, propagating, enumerating, and analyzing microorganisms, including fungi, bacteria, and/or viruses. Capability to prepare media and assist in laboratory management.

Position Summary:
We are in search of a Scientist (Role Level P1/Grade 12) to join our Life Sciences team.

The selected candidate will report to a Senior Research Manager within the Corporate Research Organization, focusing on fundamental research in skin biology within a BSL-2 laboratory setting.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong results-oriented mindset and meticulous attention to detail, demonstrating the ability to conduct laboratory experiments with minimal oversight, accurately document findings, and communicate effectively.

Collaboration within a team framework is crucial, and the candidate will receive guidance from the project leader.

Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in laboratory and experimental planning to safely and efficiently execute necessary experiments to further skin research initiatives.
- Adhere to established experimental protocols and equipment operation procedures with a keen attention to detail, performing tasks independently.
- Utilize effective written and verbal communication to document results and promptly report to relevant team members.
- Uphold safety standards and contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the laboratory, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Collaborate effectively within the BSL-2 laboratory to advance skin health research.

Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with laboratory expertise in cellular biology, microbiology, or biomedical engineering.
- Experience in a BSL-2 laboratory setting, including culturing primary cells and/or tissue explants, as well as media development.
- Proficient in conducting cell-based assays, cytokine quantification, ELISA, and qRT-PCR.
- Demonstrated ability to execute laboratory protocols with precision and attention to detail.
- Proven capability to rapidly learn biological assays/methods, assist in protocol standardization, and perform thorough data analysis to achieve results.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment suitable for a biological laboratory (BSL-2).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence project direction through both oral and written communication.
- Familiarity with relevant software applications, particularly the Windows suite, with an emphasis on Excel for data management and graphing.
- A track record of successful collaboration in multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams.
