JOB OVERVIEW:
This role entails conducting advanced research in the field of soilless agriculture, focusing on critical areas such as nutrient management, microbial interactions, and the assembly of endemic microbial communities. The successful candidate will engage in innovative experiments utilizing state-of-the-art molecular and omics technologies, perform comprehensive data analysis through bioinformatics, contribute to scientific publications, and manage laboratory equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute laboratory experiments employing molecular and omics methodologies.
  • Analyze research data utilizing bioinformatics tools.
  • Provide training to students on various laboratory techniques.
  • Ensure the maintenance of laboratory equipment and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with project partners on experimental designs.
  • Prepare presentations and scientific publications.
  • Assist in the establishment and upkeep of soilless agricultural systems.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing skills for scientific documentation.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and reliable.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
Supervise students under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other related tasks as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience with molecular and omics technologies.
  • Proficiency in bioinformatics for data interpretation.
  • Capability to conduct independent research and publish findings in academic journals.
  • Prior experience with laboratory equipment is advantageous.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work primarily conducted in laboratory and field settings, with exposure to high temperatures and the requirement to lift heavy materials for aquaponics tasks.
