Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Education Support Specialist to join our team at Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. The successful candidate will provide exceptional support to students with special needs, ensuring they receive the best possible education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with instruction and management of students, establishing a supportive and sympathetic relationship with each student.
  • Guide and help students with curriculum tasks, reinforcing materials introduced by the teacher.
  • Assist with behavior management and disciplinary procedures, maintaining confidentiality and communicating with teachers and parents as needed.
  • Perform physical tasks such as assisting students with daily needs, performing errands, and accompanying students on trips.
  • Participate in classroom health procedures and serve as a resource person for student evaluation teams.
  • May be asked to serve as a substitute teacher or school crossing guard, as needed.
Requirements
  • Highly Qualified designation, with 48 college credits or 7 credits in core subject matter and passing WorkKeys test scores.
  • Training and experience working with children with special needs.
  • Ability to physically perform basic operational functions, including lifting up to 40 pounds.
Terms of Employment

Ten-month year, with a work schedule determined by the Principal.
