Job Title: Software Developer 3

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Software Developer 3 to join our team. As a key member of our Software Systems Development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, modifying, testing, debugging, and evaluating software to meet functional requirements for various functional areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software applications using .Net Core C# and/or front-end development using HTML5, XML, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Develop and administer databases, including SQL Server environments.
  • Mentor junior developers through paired programming.
  • Review Microsoft monthly security update releases to ensure compatibility with current website environments.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a back-end developer using .Net Core C# and/or front-end developer using HTML5, XML, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Excel/MS Access VBA development.
  • Demonstrated experience in a SQL Server environment writing SQL queries and Microsoft IIS and authentication methods.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a Scrum Development Team environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in the design and development of mobile applications.
  • Experience developing and providing software user training to end users.
  • Skilled in design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Experience with on-premise Azure DevOps.
  • Scrum Master (CSM) Certification.
  • Experience in CI/CD automated test environments.

Education/Experience:

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

At this level, postgraduate coursework may be desirable.

Work Location:

The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours of ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position Commitment:

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.

If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.

The position commitment for this position is 2 years.

While the posted salary range for this position is broad, it is highly unusual for selected applicants to be hired at the top end of the range and more common for selected candidates to grow into the full salary band over time.

Clearance:

The position requires a Q clearance. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.

This position requires US citizenship, except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens.

New-Employment Drug Test:

The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law.

A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
