Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our Medical Unit at Luminis Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the provision of cost-effective healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Decision Making/Judgment
    • Utilize clinical nursing knowledge and skill to provide effective patient care.
    • Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
    • Organize and prioritize patient care activities to ensure efficient and effective care.
    • Assess patients to collect data and identify learning needs.
    • Develop and individualize a plan of care for each patient.
    • Implement the patient's plan of care in accordance with established standards and policies.
    • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care and make revisions as needed.
  • Nurse-Patient Family Relationships
    • Assess the patient's/family's learning needs, readiness to learn, and learning style.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate teaching plans for patient populations.
    • Provide direct patient care to patients and families in a culturally, developmentally, and ethically appropriate manner.
    • Plan of care addresses the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and learning needs of the patient/family.
  • Clinical Scholarship
    • Participate in quality improvement, continuous performance improvement, and risk management activities.
    • Support the use of evidence-based guidelines and organizational policies and procedures to promote safe patient care and a safe practice environment.
  • Clinical Leadership
    • Participate in unit shared governance and contribute to the development of unit policies and procedures.
    • Participate in the education and orientation of new staff members.
    • Delegate patient care activities as appropriate and evaluate delegated activities for expected patient care outcomes.
  • Unit Specific Responsibilities
    • Provide nursing care to adult medical patients ranging in age from 18 years to the elderly.
    • Utilize telemetry as an assessment tool and manage patient care during a dysrhythmic episode.
    • Identify and treat nursing diagnoses that frequently occur in the medical population, including activity intolerance, impaired adjustment, impaired physical mobility, pain, self-care deficit, alteration in elimination, and potential for impaired gas exchanges in the pulmonary system.
    Requirements
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
    • Current licensure as a registered nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
    • BLS - American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification.
