Job Title: Student Assistance Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Student Assistance Professional to join our team at Puget Sound Educational Service District. As a key member of our team, you will provide direct services to students and their families, working to mitigate and reduce behavioral health concerns and improve health and learning preparedness.

Job Summary:

The Student Assistance Professional will work closely with school staff, community partners, and families to identify students struggling with substance abuse or mental health-related issues. You will provide an array of mental health services, including administering and interpreting screening and assessment, utilizing evidence-based mental health practices, and coordinating with school staff and community resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement prevention and behavioral health plans to ensure all students are safe, healthy, supported, engaged, challenged, and actively participating in their school experience.
  • Conduct individual and family screening, monitoring referral, case management, consultation, skill-building services, and follow-up within the student assistance framework and multidisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate activities with the assigned school team and community partners to identify students struggling with substance abuse or mental health-related issues and refer them to school and community-based services.
  • Facilitate school-based re-entry services to re-engage students in academic programming and improve health and learning preparedness.
  • Maintain confidential program records and files, compiling and inputting data to comply with funding requirements and maintain best practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Education, Human Services, Psychology, or Social Work, or Associate's degree in one of the above fields with 3+ years of progressively responsible job-related experience.
  • Professional experience working with youth ages 10-21 in a counseling or case management role.
  • Experience collaborating with professionals from multiple disciplines to improve behavioral health outcomes for children and youth.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with evidence-based mental health practices and child/family wellness and recovery.
  • Professional work experience working within a school environment or youth-serving agency.
  • Experience with child/adolescent group counseling.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
