Firefighter/EMT Response and Rescue Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Firefighter/EMT Response and Rescue Specialist to join our team at the City of Winchester. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires individuals with strong emergency response skills, a commitment to public safety, and excellent communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency incidents in a timely and effective manner, utilizing firefighting and EMT skills to protect life and property.
- Operate emergency apparatus, including fire trucks and ambulances, to support rescue and firefighting operations.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and stations to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and protocols.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and the public to ensure seamless incident response and resolution.
Requirements
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
- Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
- Hold current certifications as a Firefighter Level I, Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (Level III), Mayday Firefighter Down Operations, and Hazardous Material Operations.
- Possess an Emergency Medical Technician certification recognized by the VA Office of Emergency Medical Services or National Registry of EMTs.
