Job Summary

This is a challenging opportunity to join The Collage Companies as an Estimator, playing a key role in the Pre-Construction Team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for estimating and bidding projects across various sectors, with a focus on transportation projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the preconstruction process and be able to manage relationships with clients, designers, and trade partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess bid opportunities and attend pre-bid meetings to evaluate existing conditions
  • Study project plans and specifications to ensure adequacy for a complete estimate
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and other estimating software platforms
  • Solicit trade contractor participation and assemble bid packages
  • Secure and level subcontractor bids
  • Develop accurate estimates reflecting recent cost data or subcontractor bids
  • Develop project-specific General Conditions & General Requirements (GC/GR) studies with input from the Operations Team
  • Develop estimate schedules to support the logic of the GC/GR study
  • Lead final bid review meetings with the preconstruction and operations teams
  • Present and explain pricing approach to clients
  • Complete bid forms accurately and deliver completed bids on-time
  • Lead pre-operations turnover meetings involving multiple departments
  • Provide post-bid analysis of unit costs for various building systems
  • Lead standalone estimates with minimal oversight
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study
  • 3-5 years of experience as an estimating professional
  • Proficiency in software (MS Excel, Word, P6, iSqFt, etc.)

Physical Requirements

This position may involve periodic travel to construction sites. The employee must be able to perform duties both indoors and outdoors, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
