About Our Client

A leading contract manufacturer in the electronics space serving the military. With a team of 50 people onsite, they are seeking to expand their team of manufacturing engineers and grow based on new sales numbers and larger project continuing to flow in in 2024.

Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing programs for production equipment to ensure efficient and effective operation. They will provide necessary information to the Senior Design Engineer/Integrator to create the Cable Block Diagram within the Technical Data Package (TDP). They will also assign unique numbers to each cable and maintain the configuration management of all cables involved.

The Manufacturing Engineer will create and maintain routings, Bills of Material (BOM), drawings, and detailed assembly and inspection instructions, along with visual aids needed for processing orders. They will design and develop tooling and fixtures to streamline the production process. They will interpret customer specifications, technical drawings, engineering guidelines, and fabrication requirements, and communicate these to the manufacturing team.

The Manufacturing Engineer will analyze existing processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction and quality enhancement, implementing improvements where possible. They will assess the scope of projects to determine the required production labor and materials. They will serve as a liaison and technical advisor between the program manager, customers, and internal departments, addressing technical issues, coordinating schedule adjustments, and ensuring material availability.

The Manufacturing Engineer will review and sign off on engineering packages to confirm they meet all necessary criteria. They will review, approve, and develop specifications for purchasing fixtures and other production-related items. They will incorporate customer change notices into manufacturing documents to ensure all updates are accurately reflected.

The Manufacturing Engineer will review requests for quotations, ensuring all necessary information such as the statement of work, quantities, and special instructions is accurate and timely. They will compare estimated versus actual costs of past production orders and update routing times and BOMs to accurately reflect the data.

The Manufacturing Engineer will take ownership of accounts to ensure that products meet 100% quality standards and optimal yields. They will provide and review Design for Manufacturing (DFM) support and documentation at all stages of the product design cycle and assembly, including both pre- and post-design for manufacturing.

The Manufacturing Engineer will act as a technical liaison, facilitating communication and understanding between various stakeholders. They will ensure that products meet 100% quality standards and optimal yields.

Requirements

The successful Manufacturing Engineer will have 5+ years of experience in the manufacturing space. WIRE/CABLE/BACKPLANE experience is required. Electromechanical background is a plus. Contract manufacturing or contract government experiences is a plus. IPC 620 is preferred.
