Pay Grade/Pay Range: 52 Hourly (non-exempt) - Minimum - $9.80 Midpoint - $12.25
Normal Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, with some weekends and extended hours.
Job Overview: The Sales Associate plays a vital role in supporting retail operations within designated areas such as textbooks, general merchandise, art supplies, and computer supplies. Responsibilities include:
- Receiving, unpacking, and restocking merchandise.
- Pricing and shelving products to ensure availability.
- Operating the cash register and managing customer transactions.
- Providing exceptional customer service through direct interaction and assistance.
- Participating in store events and promotional activities.
- Assisting with customer inquiries via telephone, web, or in-person.
- Contributing to the annual physical inventory process.
Additional Responsibilities: This role primarily focuses on cashiering duties and support within the web/mail order department.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, along with a minimum of six months of experience in a customer service or retail environment. Physical requirements include frequent bending, stooping, and the ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with faculty, staff, students, and customers.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a retail setting with a strong emphasis on customer service is highly desirable.
