• Maintains cleanliness and organization of meat and seafood displays, storage areas, and workspaces to uphold sanitation and safety standards; includes cleaning shelves, ensuring floors are free of spills, and removing any hazardous materials.
• Stocks and organizes meat and seafood displays; involves product presentation, facing, filling, and ensuring all items are arranged according to Meat Department guidelines while verifying pricing accuracy.
• Monitors product rotation, paying close attention to expiration dates to ensure freshness.
• Engages with customers, providing assistance with inquiries, purchases, and product selections at the meat counter; involves promoting and cross-selling products.
- Receives and inspects shipments for accuracy, temperature, and quality.
- Ensures promotional materials and recipe cards are available at the point of purchase.
• Operates various equipment including knives, scales, wrappers, and pallet jacks while adhering to safety practices.
• Monitors temperature controls throughout the meat and seafood preparation process.
• Prepares a variety of meat and seafood products, ensuring proper ingredient usage and cooking times.
• Organizes and rotates meat products in coolers and freezers to maintain quality.
• Accurately weighs and labels meat products, ensuring proper packaging and dating procedures are followed.
• Complies with safety protocols while using cutting tools, including the use of protective gloves.
• Participates in inventory preparation, ensuring back stock is organized and tags match products.
• Maintains a comprehensive understanding of product knowledge and preparation techniques.
• Regularly inspects the department to ensure a clean and organized appearance.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in grocery retail, particularly in meat department operations, is advantageous.
- Experience in a natural foods environment is a plus.
- Exceptional customer service skills are required.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-volume retail environment while collaborating with a team.
- Proactive problem-solving skills are essential.
- Flexibility to adapt to various situations.
