Health and Wellness Youth Engagement Specialist
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida is actively looking for a committed Health and Wellness Youth Engagement Specialist to enhance our organization. This role is centered on empowering young individuals to adopt positive habits that promote their overall health and assist them in setting personal aspirations. As a member of our collaborative team, you will design, oversee, and execute a range of enriching activities and focused programs with an emphasis on health and life skills.
Primary Duties:
- Design and execute health and life skills initiatives for youth of various age groups, including programs such as Cybersafety, Date SMART, Passport to Manhood, among others.
- Attract and maintain youth participation in programs.
- Collaborate with club personnel to deliver programs throughout the academic year.
- Monitor and document participant data for funding and reporting purposes.
This role is vital in guiding members to make informed decisions regarding their education, career paths, and health. By evaluating the developmental needs, interests, and traits of youth, tailored programs are created to ensure a rewarding club experience.
Additional Duties:
- Engage in special events and programs.
- Possible involvement in evening and weekend activities.
- May require operating the Club van (valid driver's license and clean driving record necessary).
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of DCF Level II background check and drug screening.
- Understanding of youth development principles.
- Capability to inspire youth and manage behavioral challenges.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
Work Environment:
This position typically operates Monday through Friday, with hours ranging from 8 AM to 7 PM, including occasional weekends and extended hours as required. Work settings include both indoor and outdoor environments.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.
- Capacity to lift items weighing up to 20 lbs.
- High energy levels when necessary.
- Emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
