The Automotive Service Specialist plays a crucial role in executing vehicle repair and maintenance tasks as directed, adhering to the standards set by the dealership and manufacturer. This position also includes supervising any apprentice technicians assigned to assist.
Ideal candidates will possess 2-5 years of experience in mainline and diagnostic services, with a preference for those familiar with the VW brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and process repair orders from the service dispatcher.
- Carry out tasks as specified in the repair order efficiently and accurately, in line with dealership and factory guidelines.
- Diagnose the source of malfunctions and execute necessary repairs.
- Coordinate with the parts department to procure required components.
- Tag and save parts for warranty jobs or upon customer request.
- Inspect vehicles to identify any additional safety or service needs.
- Inform the service advisor promptly if further work is unnecessary or if repairs cannot be completed on schedule.
- Document all work performed meticulously.
- Conduct road tests on vehicles as needed or refer to a designated test technician, ensuring customer vehicles are not used for personal errands.
- Oversee the work of apprentice technicians as assigned.
- Participate in factory-sponsored training sessions.
- Stay updated on factory technical bulletins.
- Ensure that customer vehicles are maintained in a clean condition.
- Maintain a tidy shop environment and account for all dealership-owned tools consistently.
- Comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and report any incidents to a supervisor immediately.
Qualifications:
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- ASE certification or equivalent training.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Manual dexterity and good judgment.
- All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
- All applicants must perform their duties safely.
- All applicants must demonstrate the ability to pass pre-employment screenings, including background checks, MVR, drug tests, and possess a valid driver’s license.
