Piper Aircraft is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Structural Assembler I to join our manufacturing team. As a key member of our production team, you will assist in the assembly of high-quality aircraft parts and assemblies, following strict manufacturing instructions and quality control procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble aircraft sheet metal structural assemblies, including wing spars, wing sections, and fuselage sections, using various tools and equipment.
- Drill, countersink, dimple, ream, and chamfer holes on structural assemblies, ensuring precision and accuracy.
- Trim assemblies to fit, maintaining designed gap tolerances and rivet edge distance requirements.
- Apply sealants to pressurized fuselage sections, fuel bays, and other structural joints as necessary.
- Operate routers and grinders to precision dimensions, such as cabin windows and structural butt joints.
- Install mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system parts and accessories.
- Inspect and buy-off own and other team members' work, ensuring compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.
- Maintain departmental compliance with safety, environmental protection, FOD, and tool control programs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Related sheet metal assembly experience, with a minimum of 3 years of experience for the Sheet Metal Structural Assembler I position.
- Ability to work scheduled shifts and hours, including overtime, with minimal supervision.
- Use of hand and power tools as required.
- Follow all safety procedures and adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS), and other manufacturing instructions.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks, with evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job-specific equipment.
