Important Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain sterile equipment for all dental procedures by following established protocols and procedures.
  • Inspect instruments post-operatively for proper function or damage before returning them to stock room to ensure patient safety.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of needed supplies and order new items as necessary to ensure the effective operation of the sterile processing department.
  • Monitor the sterilization process for instruments or equipment used during procedures to guarantee the highest level of sterility.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available and operational as needed to support dental procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sterilized items, including item number, date, time, type of sterilizer used, and operator initials.
  • Validate the sterility of processed instruments by performing biological and chemical testing to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular maintenance on autoclaves to ensure proper functioning and safety standards are met.
  • Operate steam sterilizers, washer-disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, dry heat ovens, and other related equipment to ensure the effective sterilization of dental instruments.
  • Provide guidance and instructions to new staff members regarding sterile processing procedures to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Monitor inventory levels of supplies to maintain adequate stock at all times and prevent stockouts.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Sterilization Professional is required for this position.
  • A Certificate of completion of an accredited Surgical Professional program is preferred but not required.
