Sterilization Specialist

Job Summary

Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine seeks a highly skilled Sterilization Technician to join our team. As a Sterilization Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of infection control and sterilization in our dental school.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain sterile equipment for all dental procedures.
• Inspect instruments post-operatively for proper function or damage before returning them to stock room.
• Keep an inventory of needed supplies and order new items as needed for effective operation of the sterile processing department.
• Monitor sterilization process for instruments or equipment use during procedures.
• Ensure all necessary equipment is available and operational as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of all sterilized items, including item number, date, time, type of sterilizer used, and operator initials.
• Validate the sterility of processed instruments by performing biological and chemical testing.
• Conduct regular maintenance on autoclaves to ensure proper functioning and safety standards.
• Operate steam sterilizers, washer-disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, dry heat ovens, and other related equipment.
• Provide guidance and instructions to new staff members regarding sterile processing.
• Monitor inventory levels of supplies in order to maintain adequate stock at all times.

Requirements:

• Certificate of completion of an accredited Surgical Professional program.
• A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Sterilization Professional.
