Location: Toms River, NJ
Work Schedule: Onsite 1st Shift
Compensation: $80 – $100K/yr
The Process Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of all manufacturing operations, including machinery, auxiliary equipment, and material handling, to consistently meet quality, output, product cost, and operational cost standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and optimize injection molding processes for high cavitation molds, alternative materials, and new tooling, utilizing advanced technologies.
2. Enhance production equipment and resource utilization by identifying operational deficiencies and improving processing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
3. Document and refine manufacturing processes to boost production yield by analyzing products and methods, establishing production standards, monitoring deviations, and recommending corrective actions.
4. Maintain a standards library for reference during off shifts and document production interruptions, collaborating with Supervisors to address issues and submit recommendations to Management.
5. Create systems and documentation for process control and enhancement across all production aspects.
6. Improve manufacturing methods and develop procedures, focusing on molding processes, logistics, tooling readiness, setup efficiency, and quality enhancement.
7. Identify production deficiencies and lead projects to implement effective solutions.
8. Establish and manage standard process sheets detailing equipment, required steps, and specifications for setups and reporting.
9. Investigate root causes of molding non-conformances and implement solutions for both immediate and long-term resolution.
10. Develop training materials and conduct sessions for manufacturing and tooling staff on departmental procedures and standards.
11. Troubleshoot tooling or process-related issues as needed and may assist in designing molds and special tooling.
12. Oversee the execution of Engineering prototypes and sample runs, ensuring timely coordination among Engineering, Tooling, Planning, and Production.
13. Review product designs for compliance with engineering principles and manufacturability, providing input on new designs.
14. Identify and justify equipment or facility upgrades to enhance quality, processes, or efficiency.
15. Ensure quality and production targets are met by managing molding machine capacity and minimizing scrap.
16. Recommend improvements for production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
17. Propose enhanced manufacturing methods, layouts, and techniques for Management approval.
18. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations from OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies.
19. Participate in Tooling Design Review meetings as the Operations Representative.
20. Responsible for the initial processing of new molds and products to establish process parameters.
21. Prepare product and process reports by collecting and analyzing information and trends.
22. Maintain a reference library of methods and procedures through organized documentation.
23. Continuously seek to improve quality and cost-effectiveness within the controlled area.
